Anthony Mitchell VIEW PROFILE

Anthony Wayne Mitchell
Jun 10, 1953 - Feb 19, 2026

Anthony Wayne Mitchell, the son of the late Ralph Mitchell and Gertrude Spann Mitchell, was born on June 10, 1953 in Winston-Salem, N.C. On February 19, 2026, he completed his earthly journey.

He received his formal education in the Winston-Salem/ Forsyth School System, attended Atkins High School and was a proud member of the "1972 Class that Never Was". After the closing of Atkins as a high school, he enrolled at North Forsyth High School where he graduated in 1972.

He held membership with Great Commission Community Church Inc. There he used his talents and his willingness to serve to enhance the ministry.

He loved to read the Winston-Salem Journal which was ideal since his vocation was that of a press operator with the city’s major newspaper. He retired from the Journal after many years of service. When he was not with family and friends, enjoying K&W or Forsyth Seafood, he enjoyed keeping his yard cut, cleaning his cars, and watching sports, especially football. Many would say the Carolina Panthers or Kansas City Chiefs were his favorite teams.

He was known for his stylish dress and distinguished look, usually topped off with one of his many Kangol hats. His cars were like accessories that completed his look and were al-ways as immaculate as he was.

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Gertrude Mitchell; sisters, Lynda, Barbara and Beverly; brother, Milton; and niece, Monique.

He leaves behind one son, Trayvon; stepdaughters, Nicole and Jasmine; sister, Gwendolyn; nieces, Tonya (Michael) and Jamicka (Demeterius); nephews, Kevin, James (Laura), and Michael; a host of great-nieces and nephews; old school master barber, John Dyer; and a host of other relatives and friends.
