Mr. Hillard William Summers, Jr., affectionately known to family and friends as "Billy", was born to the late Hillard William Summers, Sr. and Mary Remele Dobson Summers on March 10, 1954 in Winston-Salem, NC. He attended the local schools and graduated from North Forsyth High School. Mr. Summers spent his professional career in different capacities at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, retiring after 38 years of service. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. 

Mr. Summers passed away on August 3, 2024, after a brief period of illness. Left to cherish many memories of him are his wife, Betty Ann Summers; children: Jamar Summers (Danielle Settle) and Nekeba (Phillip) Yelverton; six grandchildren: Janelle Summers, Jamar Summers, Janae Summers, William Yelverton, Bailey Yelverton and Brooklyn Yelverton; his siblings: Wanda Summers, Judy Hilton, Karen (Thomas) Oliver, Veronia Summers, his twin, Hilda Summers, Edward (Jennifer) Summers and Alvin (Vikki) Summers; aunts and uncles: Bernard (Donna) Dobson, Stephen (Candace) Dobson and Yvonne Jackson; a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, several extended family and many friends.

Billy was a member of the NFHS 1971-72 state championship football team, where he played running back.

Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., August 8, 2024, at Piney Grove Baptist Church. The family will greet friends at 11:30 a.m. Interment in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. Mr. Summers will be publicly viewed today, August 7, from 12 to 6 p.m. at the Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home, 727 N. Patterson Ave. Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
