Steven Artist Tate, 50, of Pfafftown passed away early Saturday morning, June 19, 2004, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born Feb. 6, 1954, in Forsyth County to Gorrell Lee and Ruth Artist Tate. Steve was previously employed by G&S Turf Equipment in Greensboro and Carswell Distributing Co. in Winston-Salem. Most recently he was owner and operator of Steve Tate Trucking Co.

Steve was a member of Old Town Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother; and his mother-in-law, Mildred H. Sheek. Surviving are his wife, Deborah Gilland Tate of the home; his father of Winston-Salem; his sisters, Mickie T. Mizelle of Rocky Mount and Tina T. Royals and husband, Mark of Raleigh; an aunt, Joyce Gentry of Winston-Salem; a special cousin, Phil Gentry and wife, Sue of Kannapolis; his sisters-in-law, Renee Large and husband, Harrold of Pfafftown and Kelley Hedrick of Greensboro; five nephews, Tate and Chris Mizelle, both of Rocky Mount, Cameron Large and wife, Shana of Pfafftown and Travis and Chase Hedrick, both of Greensboro; and a special dog, Jenkins.
