Mrs. Denise LaVonn Grubbs Magee, 48, of Winston-Salem, went home to be with the Lord March 15, 2002, at the Forsyth Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan 2, 1954, in Winston-Salem, the daughter of Sebron Preston Grubbs (deceased February 1980) and Margaret Moxley Grubbs of Winston-Salem.

She attended North Forsyth High School and spent most of her working years at Integon Insurance Co. She left work in 1986 to become a full-time housewife and mother. She was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church, Thomasville and served as a choir director, a bereavement committee member, former youth director, soloist and in many other capacities. She was a volunteer for the Davidson County Senior Services meals program. She was also active in volunteer programs at North Davidson Senior High School. She had a genuine love for people and most important for her family and for her Lord.

Survivors include her precious mother, Margaret Moxley Grubbs of Winston-Salem; her husband, David Wayne Magee; two sons, Jeremy Preston Magee and Adam Grayson Magee of the home; her sister, Patrice Grubbs Knight of Tobaccoville; brothers-in-law Johnny Ray Knight of Tobaccoville, Richard L. Magee of Winston-Salem, Steven W. Magee of Lexington and Craig Leonard of Trinity; sisters-in-law Sonya J. Magee of Winston-Salem, Marti F. Magee of Lexington and Susan M. Leonard of Trinity; also nieces and nephews Ryan McCune, Jessica Knight and Aaron Knight of Tobaccoville, Sheyanne Magee of Winston-Salem, Garrett Magee and Steven Magee of Lexington and Miranda Leonard and Meredith Leonard of Trinity, all of which she loved dearly.

Robin Sealey (Moore)

Barbara Denise Grubbs passed away in Deanville, Texas. The obituary was featured in The Bryan-College Station Eagle on June 29, 2007.
