Michael Greer

Lexington 12/4/1953 - 12/13/2015 Michael Eugene Greer , 62, is spending Christmas in heaven after a courageous battle with cancer. Mike was a compassionate, outgoing, and talented man. He made it his goal to improve the lives of everyone, particularly those who needed it most. He used his talent as a musician to give glory to God as well as participated in several area bands. When he wasn't playing, he helped local bands book gigs at area venues. He enjoyed broadening his fiance's horizons, spending time with his family, cookouts, reminiscing, and playing music with his friends. A life-long resident of the Triad, he attended North Forsyth where he was a member of the 1971 state-championship football team and graduated from East Forsyth High School in 1972. He was employed at several local companies including Douglas Battery, Restaurant Technologies, Two Men and a Truck, and Williams Construction prior to his retirement in 2014. His father Fred Greer preceded him in death, along with his mother Lucille Greer, sisters Rita Bowen (Greer) and Judy Greer. He is survived by his fiance Jamie Ortegon, sister Carol Kirkman (Greer), sons Jordan Greer and Jonathan Greer (Erynn), three grandsons (Zeke, Obie, and Mathias), several nieces and nephews, and a host of loyal, life-long friends, all of whom have loved, prayed, and supported him and Jamie during this journey.
